Ok. The wife has given me permission to buy a new kit. [:O] So I need advice. I am looking at a Tamiya B-17, or a Hasegawa B-25. Both in 1/72. Which one should I get???[swg]

Hmm, Tamiya doesn’t make a B-17. YET that is[BH]
personally I would not buy after market detail sets for 1/72 scale. These sets are usually expensive. I currently am working on a 1/72 bf 109 G5 forewhich I bought a engine / cockpit detail set and it I must say I am little dissapointed.
The sets i bought are a good quality but 1/72 scale is so small that the details blend in with the rest of the kit. I feel it is more worthwile to use details sets on larger scale models.
If I were you I would spend the money your are planning to spend on another model kit instead.

The Revell Germany kit is the old Revell kit. I would not waste your time with it. I would either get the B-25 mentioned or look at the Academy B-17 in the same scale. You’ll be glad you did!
Yeah. I found that in an old musty corner of the LHS. No wonder it had a 1/4 inch of dust on it. Thanks for the tip. Off to buy a liberator. My very first bomber!!![:O]
For a 1/72 B-17 go with the Academy or Hasegawa kits. Both are much nicer than the old Revell kit.

Ok. I just bought the 1/72 B-25J Mitchell. Can anyone tell me of a good website or other info on the different markings. I don’t really care for the marking that this one came with. Any ideas where to go?

Being married and also being a model builder are always a direct conflict. There is just no way to justify having 150 unbuilt kits in your closet! But there is help, Just learn a couple of little phrases. Yes dear you are right,No dear, I wil do it right away dear, and the most important, No that is not a new kit I bought it years ago. Good grief, I thought I was the only one. After 36 years it has not gotten any better. Try this trick guys. Every so often I bring a model up from my basement work area, open the box and look at the pieces and the directions under my wifes watchful eyes. I even leave it on the kitchen table for a few days. (That drives her crazy) Then the next time I smuggle in a new kit and do the same thing. If she asks if it is ANOTHER new kit I say “no I’m just looking at it and trying to decide if it will be my next build”. Remember to get rid of the hobby shop bag and the receipt before you go into the house.
In reality, I pretend she doesn’t know, and she pretends she doesn’t know. SHE KNOWS! I do not know how they do it but they know.
