I got my Dragon Tiger I

Well, the Fedex girl showed up with my Dragon Tiger. Very nice. Had a couple of questions. The kit calls itself 3-1, but only two options (white outline numbers 100 and 121 of sPzAbt 502) are given and of those, you can do with or with out snorkels. The decals included also have some extra solid white numbers with black outline, so my guess is this allows you to do any Tiger from Leningrad and sPzAbt 502, right? Would they be without any turret bins at all? Would they be solid field gray or would they have the white/field gray camo scheme that 121 's direction calls for(depends on season I would suppose). I guess I am trying to find out if you can build more than 2 tanks. A have a few pics of 502 tanks and most early pics seem to have the regular Tiger turret bin, whcih Dragon left out. And that brings me to my last question- Dragon has 121’s paint directions showing it in a two color scheme. The directions are B/W and one color is represented by light gray and the other by pale blue. The lighter color is called out as Feldgrau while the darker color is white. Where some Initial Tigers given white stripes like that and did Dragon accidentally reverse the color call outs or are they just being odd? Phew that should cover it…for now

JWest 21 you are lucky just too have the kit. I preordered w GM and I guess I have until the end of the month before I see it (maybe). That’s not a bad thing cause I’m still trying to finish my Marder III. I know it dosen’t come with PE Engine Screens but I was wondering if the set for Tamiya would work?
Enjoy the kit and go buy a lotto ticket…[:)]

You know, I just recently glued my screens on my Tamiya Tiger, or I could tell you. I can eyeball it, though. I am still trying to figure out the whole 3 in 1 thing. To me it seems like a 2 in 1 with some extra pieces

OK, I measured. The Eduard ones I used on the Tamiya kit are the same width as Dragon’s large intakes, but are 1 mm more length wise. The smaller screens are the same width as the kit and about 1/2 a mm longer

I ordered mine from Sprue Bros. today…it’s supposed to ship tonight or tomorrow

From what I understand , the snorkel is supposed to be the third option.

YEah, it shows it, but it shows it as an option to add it to the two tanks in the instructions. So you can build 100 or 121 with/ or without a snorkel. I was thinking that I would be able to buy 3 and do three completely different tanks. Now, they do include a a bunch of extra number decals, but no directions on paint job, or if any of the others should have no turret or th PzIII turret. Yeah, it’s a minor but still wondering. The rest of the kit is sweet!

Someone over on Missing-Lynx asked about what PE screens might work with the Dragon kit. Someone else mentioned the Aber 35G03 Tiger I Grill Screens. Don’t know what their dimensions are though? Anyone have this set?

Glenn

Some after-market company, Aber, Eduard, or some such; will make PE screens for this kit. Too many kits will be sold to not miss this market! Huh?

Glenn

Oh man, You rock!!!

couldn’t resist. Good luck with those decisions.

Jwest the snorkel is the 3rd option that was never really on any of the tanks so they give you that as if it was a prototype. and for the people asking about the screens for this kit you need to remember that they were NOT put on the tiger till a later in the first run of theses tanks. as for the way its set up the 2 bins was tank #100 and the panzer 3 bin on the back would be tank #121. from what i have read there were quite a few that came out with the pz3 bins on the back but for #s i could not help ya with that.

Congrats on your arrival!

Even if mine does get here next week , I won’t get to building it for some time to come , IF EVER !

Looks like a great kit though , have fun with it , and make me proud and paint it a nice GREY !

[8D]

Oddly enough all the color call outs are for FieldGray, but the box shows what appears to be standard panzer gray

I just did a wash in oil paint with some burnt sienna over the grey on one of my other projects , ( got this hint from another modeler online ) It looks great to say the least.
rust in just the right places but not overdone .

I may give that a try. Thanks

You were so focused on that kit, I’m surprised you noticed she was a girl[:X]!!!

She probably will file some sort of harassment charge against me, I was so happy

Congrats, Jason. About time!

Did you read my last postings about the kit? I was saying exactly the same thing about the “3” options. It’s a little disappointing, for sure. But still makes for a great kit! I worked a little on the road wheels, the tortion bars, and the tracks over the weekend. Looks like it’s going to be a pretty cool build.

Got my GM arrival date today (2/14/05)!! Should have it in a couple of weeks. Just in time for the Mad Armored Car and Elefant builds. I may get to it by the fal!!! LOL

They’re still not out here in Japan yet!
Maybe Mr. Tamiya has banned them here…

I’m waiting for the late version anyway!
If I can wait…
