I GODDA DO DIS or HAVING FUN WITH TRASHED MODELS

HMMMM . Where do I start ? I mentioned in the ships thread about recycling old models. Now it looks like I can expand on it . Can I ? Good , I will . Did you know that you can recycle battleships to liners and aircraft carriers to different types of tankers or dry cargo ships ?

I even , one time , turned a destroyer into a very fancy motoryacht . This of course was BEFORE prices got so high that it looked like you,d need a loan to buy a model ! I believe in creating WHAT - IF,S from severely damaged (not salvageable as their original intent ) ships of all types. Why, years ago someone gave me a boat .

When i got my prize home , I discovered it was just like the "NATCHEZ " model I had just painstakingly (my granpa gave it to me ) finished ,being very careful ,and following the instructions to the letter . I then saw a picture of a NEW YORK harbor ferry . Of course , looking at my new prize I thought "I can do that ! "

Well,to make a long story short. That was back when you could get plastic "hot wheels " sized cars in a bag. Fifty for a buck ! They fit nicely on it . It looked great until I tried sailing it at the beach in LAKE WORTH ,FLORIDA !

Whatta disaster ! I only lost two cars though ! Does anyone remember playing with rebuilt models like that ? Stockponds and tanks count here too . How many have done the rebuild using business cards and cardboard shirt inserts ? I gotta let you think about that . - - catchya later - -tankerbuilder

Blew up some of them with firecrackers

I’ve owned a few real cars like that.

I’ve thrown away just about every model I’ve ever built, including most of the ones I’ve posted here. Every rare so often one comes out well and I keep it.

My photos are enough for me.

It may sound strange, but I used to fantasize about shrinking down Ant Man style to 1/72 scale and being able to fly the planes right off the shelf.

There you go, anything is possible with the right recreational pharaceuticals. Better life through chemistry! Ah, just kidding.

I’ve made some of my best builds that way. The scrap box really comes in handy.

Wow. It took almost 7 years for someone to reply to Tankerbuilder’s post.
