I like how the new Trumpeter Locomotive is looking.
Call me silly, but to me the most impressive thing is the plastic bits with PE components moulded right into them (ninth row, left side). That looks like a really nice concept.
Speaking of the Dora, it looks insane, as I’m sure the original must have looked in its time.
I have to agree, that is insane.
No matter how many times I see pictures of the Dora, I’m still fascinated by it. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like. I have to imagine there was footage of this thing in action. I mean, I have to believe the German propaganda machine would have been all over this.
Its monstruous power put down the forts of the town, delivering never seen damage at each shot. You know the “bang” a rifle does, so try to imagine the sound of apocalypse when a 7 ton shell is fired, using thousands pounds of gun powder, enough to send it dozens of miles away… This is not sci-fi, this was the madness of a tyran, and probably the most outstanding achievement in conventionnal balistics.

Anyone know the release date of the kit? I have the Dragon Leopold and am debating getting the Karl morser. Already have plans to get the Trumpeter locomotive when it hits shelves. I would LOVE to get the Dora.
I think I heard the date is the end of the year maybe? not really sure. Only bad thing if you want a diorama of it in action you will need two thousand troops for it better get to painting[:)]
Are you all sure this is confirmed? That Dora looks like a scratchbuilt model. Those shots are of a 1/144 model (the one with the box).
I’ve been praying to the styrene gods to see this kit in styrene in 1/35. If this ever happens, I will be in tears. I cannot for the life of me, find a more fascinating vehicle.
Then again, even if it is not true, I’ll still buy the 1/144 kit and use it as a template for a 1/35 build. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
The rumor (and it’s only that as far as I know) is that the Dora will be built if it generates enough interest at Nurnberg. I agree, it’ll be a monster of a kit.

The date that I found for the Dora was off track link so its not set in stone yet or if it ever comes. Oh and zokkissima I do argee with you that it looks like a scratchbuilt so does my dad. Also been reading and says a 1/144 version is also coming out.
I hope you have the money for that thing, will probably cost several hundred bucks not to mention a decent sized space to display. Hopefully the wife will allow to give up the dinning room.

will the trumpeter locomotive fit inthe diorama? I mean, is the locomotive and Dora in same era? I will rc the locomotive and Dora with all function, so locomotive will haull the dora and dora will operate its gun. am exited now. looking forward to this project.
Ok maybe I am a sceptic, but the M4 looks smaller than 1/35th compared to the items in the background. It looks like maybe 1/48th. I don’t mean to take away from the DORA. It would be huge in any scale. Could you imagine the faces when you show up at the LHS model contest with that! [:O]
THey are roughly in the same era, but I do not believe that the Dora was pulled along like that. It was brought to the firing location on a freight train, then assembled there. THe monster rides two sets of rails, and I’ve not found information anywhere on how it was moved, whether it needed two tenders, one on each track.
From what I remember reading about this gun, once a suitable firing position was chosen either Dora or her brother Gustav was disassembled and loaded on to two trains. While the gun was being transported the dual tracks were laid into place. Once on site special cranes were used to assemble the gun. As far as I can tell the only purpose of the dual tracks was for recoil travel. I havent read it in a while but there is more in the Squadron/Signal book on German railguns

the trumpeteer locomotive has a price in japan of aprox 150 dlls and this weekend was launched…
the Dora 1/35 could be insane if you consider the size but the sherman is an insect in all the senses compared with the monster ( power of destruction ) but movility no comparation sherman is better.|
the BR 52 only can be forming paert of a diorama with dora at the assembling process where was required 5 convoys of parts to proceed assembling. for pushing was electric locomotives not vapor locomotives.
about the dora tthere are 2 versions…first version…a 1/144 model from heller and next a 1/35 from heller too.
the estimated cost is 500 euros at europe but must to be for the 1/144 because there are more than 8000 pcs if you do it in sctach at 1/35 ( imagine the size of the box , weight, SHIPPING COST and instructions ) the second version is the model in 1/144 cost aprox 800 dlls and the 1/35 just imagine on…
anyway a collection of german railwayguns cant be complete without this member…

You would need to add an extra room to your house to display that thing. It would look good though.
