Usuall thing. PE. Part went ping and off it flew, never to be found again. I searched the floor for about an hour. The carpet was soaked with my tears as i scabbled about on my hands and knees. I could hear the Carpet Monster mocking me. Then, for the 1st time ever, SWMBOed, came up with a decent idea. She says ‘Why not put an old tight (Nylon for the US) over the end of the Vacuum and hoover the floor’ WOW thought I. Found a ‘nylon’ and hoovered for England. I then used an empty model box to empty the contents of the nylon into and…I FOUND THE BIT!! WOO HOOO. and 2 bits id given up on ages ago. An oil level indicator from my JU 52/3m and a throttle lever from a 109.
HAHA You show that carpet beast who’s boss! Good idea btw! So far I’v had good luck with a big maglight. Crawling around for a while with this giant flashlight combing the carpet.
Also shows us how badly we (come on now you all know your one) need to vacuum!
I fear all you’ve done is woken the Carpet Monster, and filled him with a terrible resolve. Your other parts will be in my thoughts as the BTWBD (Beast That Won’t Be Denied) plots it’s next move.
I think the carpet monstaer is loosing his power. I recovered my Spitfire piece after just 10 minutes searching … it jumped off while my paper towel dropped on painted toothpick mounted pieces and one just flew away …
[(-D] That’s an AWESOME idea! Guy, tell your SWMBO she scores points in my book!!! My new workshop is 700 square feet of shag carpeting! [banghead] Now, I don’t have to worry so much about tweezerpaulting my parts!
Yeah, know the feeling all too welll. Only thing is, my work area has hardwood flooring.[%-)]
So I think carpet monsters have beat humans to the transporter technology race. If you don’t feed him, he’ll just beam it off your bench. That must be what happened to not only one part, but a copleted foremast on a 1/700 Tamiya Enterprise CV-6. Had to scratch build the whole thing. My neighbor’s carpet monster got it.
