a) Is there any tool or trick to emulate the rivet look on the plane skin in a small scale like 1/72? any good ideas?
b) Currently working on my previows CAD draws for the Ford Tri motor. to later scratch built
but i want to do the TWA floatplane version.
i can´t find on the web information about the dimension of the pontoons, then i thought perhaps junkers ju 52 pontoons will suit it, what do u guys think?
Hello Norseman - Welcome to the Forum. I’m sorry i don;t have any answers for your question about the rivets. I had a similar problem in the same scale. I tried many different ways to make the rivets but I finally gave up. Maybe someone else here in the forum has some ideas.
I have done some searching for the TWA but, like you, have found nothing.
Let us know how you are progressing with your drawings for the Tri-Motor.
Best tool advice I can give you is dont buy more tools! For making rivet holes I use several things you can find around your house…
Safety Pins… Cut off the shaft with the pointed end and sharpen point end with sandpaper. wrap blunt end with masking tape and insert into a Testors X-acto handle and you have a Pin Vise. Great for scribing too.
Sewing Machine Needle…, do not sharpen but follow same routine above.
Compass Needle ( for drawing circles )… remove the needle and do same as above.
This will save you money and will get the same results as any store bought tool. I recently scribed a Revell 1/48 F/A-18C Hornet using the above tools I found around my house plus jewelers files and have posted results here on the forums if you care to look for them.
Hope this helps.

And by the way…WELCOME to the forums! You came to the right place!
Welcome to the forums! You already have all the good info on riveting, I highly recommend getting the Microscale catalog, they have the coolest stuff in there! You might find good info on the floats with a Google or Ask search…
