Hey, I’m looking for anyone that has completed or is working on an Ironman figure. I’d love to start either an Ironman or War Machine figure and I’m interested in some tips and tricks.
Howdy.
I’ve done the Iron Man. I’m not expert, but I can tell you were I had the most trouble.
Paint.
Iron Man is all about the right paint job.
I painted the whole figure in gold metallic, then used a clear red over that for a metallic red. This looked well enough but you’ll have a devil of a time masking off the bits to remain gold. I used liquid mask.
My trouble area was sealing it up. The high gloss lacquer I used dissolved the acrylic red which melted down into the gold. Had to strip it and start again.
So, caution on mixing you acrylics and enamels, but it’s a fun build.
Looks great Gerry! Do you have any more pictures? I’d like to start either an Ironman or War Machine in my next few builds.
Did you airbrush all of the portions or hand paint a few? Also, what brand of liquid mask did you use? Were you happy with it? (I’ve never used it before)
Thanks.
Josh. I modified the first Iron Man kit that was released. Now the sell it with a better stance then the way I modified mine, but close to the stance I modified my kit.
I made a You tube video with the pictures I took while building my kit.
I didn’t do a lot of pics, but here’s my Iron Man
