Hunting down Airwolf...

Hey there,

I was just sippin some Courvoisier, channel surfin and BAM! I stumbled across a retro station airing Airwolf and I almost hurled! It used to be my favorite show as a kid, and as a result my dad and I went and picked up the 1/48 kit from AMT/Ertl I believe. I definitely didn’t do it any justice back in '86. I would really like to ad that back to my collection as it is hands down one of the coolest looking birds I’ve seen, in my humble opinion. Anybody know off hand where I might fine one? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

The original kit is long out of production and a collectors item. There are a bunch on eBay now.

Some of them are the newer Kitech copies that are so-so, but much more affordable than the original ones at collectors prices.

Good luck.

Good luck finding that. Maybe you can find the 1/32 Blue Thunder too.

our local hobby store has 2 in.

Then there’s Aoshima’s 1/48 Airwolf (here’s a review). I recently got one and I can confirm it’s an outstanding model concerning detail and accuracy. I also read somewhere that its close to Tamigawa standards regarding fitting.

Of course these are all aspects that you pay for.

Seems these TV and Movie kits come back around as rereleases sooner or later. I saw one of the AMT kits at a shop…I almost picked it up but the guy was asking far too much. Some one I believe it was here on FSM did a complete build including lighted interior.

Both the Airwolf & Blue Thunder helicopters have been recently nre-released, and should be available for a reasonable price at any well stocked hobby shop-I say both yesterday at a shop in Denver.

Blue Thunder is out in 1/48 now too by the same company…

Got me one of those, too. Same quality as the Airwolf kit, of course.

Did I mention both kits have figures included: Airwolf has a Strigfellow and a Dominic and Blue Thunder has a Murphy.
