Hunters II - Official WW2 Tank Hunter GB 2014

Tony, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but all your wheels have gone missing! [:O] Darn! Looks like you’ll have a delay while you source a new set…[whstl]. Guess some of us might now have a chance of catching up to you! [:P]

Ernest I warned him about parking in that part of the hood.[;)]

I sent you a message buddy.

Gotta love the lines of the Jagdpanther. I reckon it’s one of the best looking armoured vehicles ever.

Reporting some progress. Most of the lower hull is complete. I need to clean up the road wheels (bad parting lines).

I managed to fine a 1/72nd scale Dragon StuG IV that I had made some headway on a while back (but nothing too dramatic). I’ll snap some photos later.

Construction of the plastic phase complete:

Tracks coming soon I hope

WOW! Talk about speed… I would’nt be able to build the lower hull of that Jagdpanther in the time it takes you complete the whole construction phase! She’s looking great! A nice clean and quick build (I’ve never seen someone build a Dragon kit in such a short time) My hat’s off to you, Tony!

They up and call me Speedo but my real name is Mister Tony Lee[whstl]

Real men don’t need DML instructions[;)]

Thanks Guy

Good grief Tony! Awesome work on the Jagdpanther. Ditto what SS said on never seeing someone build a Dragon kit so fast! Can’t wait to see it all painted up.

ddanne, looking good so far!

Blitzwing, Nice work on the Marder!

As for me I might start on my build today. Looks like my little 38t should be pretty straightforward.

David

Started on my little tank hunter late last night.

This is sure isn’t a Dragon kit!

The hull is made up for flat panels my favorite, not!

The hull sides had some nasty pin marks on them. Got them looking OK, not worrying to much since the road wheels will cover them.

And here’s the hull gluded together. Ended up fighting with it for thirty minutes before I was happy with it.

Stopped at this point so the glue could dry.

David

Great talent posted on this GB! That Jagdpanther looks great and going by quick.

Snake… I will be taking a break from my other GB and start on my project soon which is the Eduard 1/35 Hetzer with complete interior. Have you figured out the camo scheme for yours?

I’ve been trying to figure that one out. Was thinking about an ambush pattern, but those are done to death. Right now I’ve narrowed it down to two possible schemes.

Thanks to ahtungpanzer for the photo

Cool pics snake. Even though I haven’t started mine yet, but I’m kind of leaning towards this one: chriswauchop.com/…/tamiya-135-hetzer-photos-by-brett-green

I’ve heard that probably the most challenging scheme would be solid German yellow because of the monochromatic look which color modulation and filtering will add interest and depth to the paint.

David: Looks like a good start there!

PJ: It’s great to hear about that! I’ll shoot you a PM when I start fixing all the mistakes I made on my Hetzer if you’re ok with that…

Not a problem SSpartan, glad to help if I can.

That’s a cool camo scheme!

I thought about painting mine in dunkelgelb, but like you said the solid dark yellow would be a challenge. Know I could probably pull it off in 1/35 its really not that hard. But 1/72 is still new to me so I’m going easy!

David

Hi SchattenSpartan – I just noticed this GB and I have some subjects that would fit the bill – Marder II, Jagdpanther (both Tamiya) and the Italeri Jagdpanzer IV that I started for a GB some years ago but got bogged down with – the intention was zimmerit, etch, AM barrel and tracks, all of which are still with the kit. I’m not sure how far along I got, but I’m sure it was less than 50%. In a year-long build I’m sure I could fit in one or more of these!

Cheers, Mike/Thunderbolt379

So a quick update: I was looking over my Marder II and I just wasn’t happy how the suspension arms looked. They are three pieces–the main leaf spring and roller, the swing arm, and a small square piece that is glued on the end of the leaf spring stack to simulate the end of the leaves. No matter how hard I tried, they wouldn’t go together well and they ended up looking awful. I did some digging and found an aftermarket set of resin suspension arms so I’m a happy camper.

So much nicer. I picked up an Eduard PE kit for the Marder II as well. I just need to wait for them to cross the pond.

Mike: It’s nice to have you in here! Which kit do you want me to add to the build roster?

ddanne: Those suspension arms look really nice! It looks like I didn’t get you listed on the front page… Would you mind telling me again what Marder kit you are building?

I’m building Dragon’s 1/35 Marder II mid production version. (Panzerjäger II für PaK 40/2)

Thanks. I got you on the list now!
