a couple of questions.
was there an M966 TOW missile carrier present at the desert storm or baghdad iraqi freedom?
what is the color of it’s interior when using the
- desert yellow scheme?
- UN scheme?
my kit doesn’t include the interior color on the instructions.
Thanks!
Major Rob’s the guru of hummers… Unless you go for the leather trim and front loader sound system as in the civvy versions…
Love the cartoon Land Rover, by the way…
M966 and the M1036 (an M966 with a front winch) have both been around for a very long time. They’ve seen service in both wars (both US Army and Marine) although they are being replaced in active service by up armored variants.
The interior remains the factory forest green color. Some very late HMMWVs that are manufactured in tan have a tan interior. These late HMMWVs would probably be the uparmored types. Most likely UN HMMWVs are taken from current stocks, overpainted white on the outside and sent into theater. The interior would remain the original factory color, be it green or tan.
The U.N. ones seem to be odd balls. From the only pics i’ve seen the metal portions of the interiors and suspension are ALL white! The suspension should be black along with the frame but see for yourself. These pics here are the only ones I have ever found of a U.N. hummer. If any one knows of any other pics or info like where are they going, let me know! Because these are the vehicles I’m building and all i know is what I’ve seen in thses pics.
