I started this kit yesterday and this is as far as I got with it. I have a TON of weathering and detailing to do to this and I will most likely put it in my first military diorama. I will need figures for it though and the only ones I can find are tank crew figures so far. I would like 4 or 5 figures as I plan on making this an Operation Desert Storm dio. Not sure what else is going to go in it, but that’s my basic idea.
Thoughts, input and ideas are more than welcome! In fact, I would love to hear some input on this kit and the progress made so far.

That’s the standard commander or staff officer HMMWV, not a “Commando” HMMWV as the box top states. While it seats 4 soldiers in that configuration, it often carried just the commander or staff officer/NCO and driver.
Back then, tan plastic canvas wasn’t available. The forest green plastic canvas was painted over with sand paint and look like heck since the paint flaked off easily. The black door markings were hand painted and flaked just like the tan paint. The black “40” would designate a vehicle assigned to the HQ company, which makes sense since it is a command/staff vehicle.
HMMWV crewmen can be found in the Academy M1025 HMMWV kit.
Thanks for the info Rob. I was actually thinking about drybrishing some green on the truck as many vehicles were haphazardly painted while en route to the Gulf. I remember seeing troops painting their vehicles with brooms and tubs of desert paint when they were unloaded from the ships and cargo planes. Drybrushing some green on the tarp might give it a more realisitic appearance, huh?
