Both colors are listed as Olive Drab… I want to paint my Commando car OD… I know that it’s a British vehicle… So, what color to use?.. Thanks in advance.
I prefer 155 on my US armour, especially the smaller scales as to my mind it gives a pleasing faded OD. The 66, while it may be close to a full size shade (fresh OD was a dark colour), I find is much to dark for use on models. If you can get it localy, then Tamiya Acrylic XF-62 is said to be the closest match for the WWII OD.
British OD was different from U.S. OD, and we have them both accurately matched and available in our Colourcoats enamels. British OD was S.C.C. No. 15, and is our item number ARB 19. Our U.S. 1943 OD is matched directly to a protected paint sample from a 1943 Signal Corps generator that has been in my family’s possession since 1960, and is known to have been in protected indoor storage prior to that; it is item number ARUS 03. We have no minimum order on paints, and we ship worldwide. Lots of other accurate armor colors, too.
