I have been hanging out over in the Aircraft forum, but I got a bug last night to do something with wheels and a gun. Does anybody know if there is a kit other than the 1/72 one for a Humber armoured car, any mark? I would like something that is large enough to show some detail. My intention is to do one of the cars assigned to 15 Recce form the Highland Division.
Oh my Doggies!
they look real nice, but it will be a while before I get to spend that much on a kit. Having a two-year-old really cramps the hobby budget.
OTOH have you used kits fromtehse folks before? good fit and such?
Accurate Armour is a long established Brit company, specialising in resin models. Generally quality is very high, but some of their early stuff is now showing some signs of its age due to modern casting techniques. Some of their ammo sets that I have seen are prone to airbubbles and warpage, not uncommon with other resin ammo manufacturers.
I have seen the Humber Mk 3 kit in raw form, and whilst not a lot of parts, the detail seemed good. I have also seen the finished product painted but the painting was a little heavy handed and this detracted from the kit. With more careful painting I would have considered the model first rate. If I had the funds, I would buy one of their Mk 2 Humber kits in a flash. See what marriage gets ya - a budget!!!
