Hey! I was just on the Revell AG website and I discovered something new. I think they’re working on some model of the Queen Mary 2 (That’s right, QM2) in some really large scale (1/400?) That thing is HUGE. I can’t wait until that thing is in stores. It’ll probably be a very nice model…very good. Anyone have more info??![?]
That “large Thing” is called a bulck, it’s supposed to reduce the drag of the hull, I belive they started to design the hulls like that in the early seventies.
But I must say that I’m surprised to see a “smooth” bulck on a hyper-modern ship like QMII, since computermodels have proven that the “facetted” bulcks are more affective.
Oh, so that’s what that thing is- a bulck. Does anyone knoe exactly where they are going to sell this model? (Revell AG 1/400 QM2) I really want to pre-order it like I did with their U-boat. There are some pre-release reviews on www.google.com if you type in “Revell AG 1/400 Queen Mary 2” or just “Revell 1/400 Queen Mary 2”. There’s one from Hyperscale, and one from Modeling Madness (?)
The Revell QM2 model has just been released in Europe and is in the hobby stores.
I am hoping to pick up my one tomorrow.
It feels strange for me as it wasexactly a year ago that I finished all my areas on board.
and I have also had a number of Christmas emails from others who worked with me.
The strange thing is that It seams like years ago since we were there.
I thinks it’s a bulbus bow/bulck and they have been designed in ships since the early part of last centery though not sticking out like modern ships. Thats a modern version. most warships had one especiacly USN ones, Normandie and a few others as well. I also saw a good link to a preview of the revell model though i can’t remember it!!!
I looks really good
