Huge Diorama!!!!!!!

I am building a giant diorama (1m by 1.1m). It involves two tanks and a halftrack, a hundred infantry as well as a Stuka bomber. The diorama has been on hold for a while because I am getting bored of paiting 100 guys!!!

I need some inspiration, I would like to hear your stories about huge dioramas that make me look like a sissy so I’ll get back to work.

How about trying to build a 1/32 scale carrier deck diorama (a portion of the deck) down to the last nuts and bolts, with an airplane on top.

Jeez

And I thought building a 4x3x3 Desert Storm diorama was going to be tough.

Imagine for a moment you are the USAF Ground FAC controlling an Air strike during the 1st Gulf War. You have a set of F-16s departing, while working a set of Marine F-18s With a set of A-10s waiting. Target being several different types of 1/72 Tanks, BMPs, and BTRs etc…

On our side are a couple of M1s and M-2s with some Arty support. The controller behind a sand berm. I wanted to put this in our new Squadron building at Fort Campbell. Thought it was too big of a project. Then I moved to Arkansas before I started. Still think about doing it for the Guys. Am I rambling again.

Go for it and post the pictures when you get it completed

hey hey hey dont start with me!!! 1m x 1.1m thats tiny try my model airbase its 4x16 FEET!!! ill have pics for you as soon as i can
ha 1m LOL

We regularly set up dioramas of large battles for Warhammer or 40K tournaments around here, with the average board being 4’X8’ and has over 200+ figures, tanks, weapons systems, and terrain/buildings strewn about. That’s alot of work, kids. Now, try a room with 50 of those tables!

booooooooo!!! warhammer!

What’s so wrong with Warhammer? It gives us a great chance to finally play with all of those lovely painted things, and gives us a chance to show them off a bit, too. Do you play, duck?

hey i can play with my plane models!!..o dam i lost this fight didnt I?

WHY DON’T YOU CREATE AN UGLY MASSACRE?

Alrighty then!
Well, getting back to the topic of giving stukabomb88 some inspiration for his ambitious diorama, here’s a picture from last year’s “The 16th Armour Modeller’s Conference in Kansai” (this year’s is this Sunday!). It’s a diorama in mostly 1/35 (1/32 Revell Stuka) that is similarly themed to stukabomb88’s, but not so many figures! The modeler is Yoshihiko Tsuji:

And there ya have it![:D]

I have been wanting to do one myself, again, the choice. I am opting for a WWII carrier.

I built a diorama a few years back that was 3’x5’ of an old fifties dinner. All the cars were 1/24 scale and the people were made by a friend. She makes them from tissue paper once we painted them they looked great. Unfortunatly the resturant that I built it for burnt down in a fire last year and all that was left was a pile of melted plastic.

Great looking dio by Mr. Tsuji. Very creative.
Sorry to hear about the fire, gar.
As for an actual diorama, a friend and I are well into the construction of a 4’X4’ castle siege. I’ll be sure to post pics when it’s done, but we have to build the entire base from scratch to make the moat. Should be interesting.

Not exactly a diorama… In school three of us built a 3 ft. castle out of clay. Ramparts, stairs, arches, you know. Had it to scale for those little lead D&D figures. It was too cool! We let it dry and put it in the kiln in horizontal sections. Went to take it out after it was done firing… Nothing but rubble in the bottom of the kiln!!! AAAAHHHH MAN!!! That was depressing! Go for it, stukka!

Common’ man~ Its hard work but you can do it~ The largest Scene We’ve ever made to date was 16’ by about 8’ with probly 4 square fot gap for ppl to walk into it. We had a real water fall and lake. It was in 1:72 form though. Our current project will be 25-30’ by 5-10’ of the dambuster raid on Mohne Dam. And we have a 8 month deadline. Now i know that we have a considerable more amount of ppl working on this but that doesnt make it any easier, we’re dealing with ppl taht have never even knew about models to ppl that would rather make one than go on a date (exagerastion). We try to make everyone happy and incorperate everything. But this year we will have a junior experence scence for everyone new. The dambuster model will only be made by senior ppl. Just dont give up!!

hey cadet any pictures sounds pretty cool

Go for it! Can’t wait to see the pics!
