Ok, this is the Trumpeter 1/35 HQ-2 Missile Transporter (Chinese version) I wanted to show that transporter well dirty and used. I think I screwed it up. I’m not happy with the shading, I had some trouble with my airbrush. Also, I had a hard time with the windshields, glue spots, masking tape rolling off while airbrushing, so it looks like that. I’ll try to fix it later on. Now, it was my first experience with pastel chalk and turpentine and I tried to simulate mud on the wheels and undercarriage.
Building that model was really fun and I enjoyed adding some details on it. I made all the plumbing and wiring, even the motor has sparkplugs and wires. A blue light was added on the side of the trailer as per what I saw on reference pictures of a russian version. Of course, a chinese version may not have that light and the missile is probably wrongfully painted but I don’t care, I like it like that.
So overall I liked this build very much but I was expecting something else once painted and weathered. I’ll take that build as a practice for some techniques and I must definetly buy a new airbrush. I saw a Paschee at my local art store last week. It’ll probably end up on my workbench.
So here are some pictures, the last one is one of the reference picture I had to make that model.
