Howdy from Montana, USA

Hello everyone, I’m Pike, in my 20s, and currently reside in Montana, USA. I’m super new model building with just starting last year. I’m excited to see folks work, talk to other model builders, as well learn ways to improve my skills! So far I have only made model aircraft at 1/72 scale, and only aerial fire related. My hope to be make dioramas of different aircraft in scenarios such as prescribed or wildland support in due time.

Just noticed you said aerial fire related - assume fire bombers etc? Living in SoCal for too many years I have a huge appreciation of CalFire (I’m in Arizona now where only your skin burns lol)
Did these two and have a couple other fire bombers in the stash

Welcome aboard Pike! Looking forward to seeing some of your work!

I’ve been lucky/unlucky enough to watch some firefighting aircraft up close recently – they are awesome subjects for modeling.

Welcome! As I was reading your post, I didn’t understand what you meant initially because I had no idea fire fighting aircraft models were a thing. But looking at @keavdog beautiful examples, I’m suddenly interested.

I lobe aircraft but these days bombs and missles are a less appealing to me. So a subject that includes aircraft and is a huge public service is very appealing.

I look forward to seeing you developing your modeling skills. This is a great group, lots of good info and very friendly people.

Support aircraft have a special place in my heart and while I love the more military focused aircraft, aerial fire is weird and so many planes get converted for fire support it’s a joy to see what they were originally made for get converted for something fire related. I’m excited to share my creations as they come along!

Those are so cool. Where did you get the ov-10? I have the Icm kit I’m the stash but it is the assault type. A fire version would be very fun.

Pretty sure it was the Academy 1/72 kit with some surgery.

BTW Draw decals does a number of fire birds in different scales.

Cool subject! I’m a semi retired firefighter and looking forward to seeing your work.
