Hello Kobe,

Welcome to FSM! As A brand new member, you probably need to examine the entire web site as to where to post general modelling questions. The FSM staff has divided up the subject matter to alleviate issues. You will probably get multiple responses to your question, as there are many correct terms in English to describe our hobby. “Aircraft scale modeling” is fine.

Again, welcome!

Steve

Howdy, Kobe! Welcome to FSM.
I like “Scale Aircraft Modelling.”

From what language are you translating it?

Scale Aircraft Modelling is the way I would describe it also. Or you could call it Scale Aviation Modelling.

Regards, Rick

Welcome aboard! [:)]

I think (my personal opinion) is that Scale Aviation Modeling - or - Modelling is fine.

The word Modeling apparently is correct with either one or two l’s.

For Armor - Scale Armor Modeling.
For Ships - Scale Ship Modeling.

Welcome to the forum. I call it relaxing…

I prefer aviation modelling. My wife prefers “playing with his toys”[;)]

Hello Kobe, and welcome. I refer to my hobby as “building scale replicas”, or “building scale models”. It satisfies the human need for artistic expression, after we find food, shelter, clothing, and the other necessities of life. It is a way to relax and take ones mind off of the stresses in life. I hope this helps you “define” our hobby. rangerj

Welcome. Call it anything you want. Some time its called a pain in the… Well you get the idea. Have fun.

Finally, and all the time I was wondering if my spelling was correct.

However another correct description could :

Addiction to Styrene Glue,
Driving my wife (or GF) nuts,
Spending the last of the Household money on plastic…

[:D]

Kobe, that’s an unsusual nickname you’ve got there, but I know a guy is called Kobe for real. You’re not by any chance a train engineer in Antwerp ?

LOL!!

Or as someone else put it…

Stuck eating Ramen Noodles for the rest of the month.

Kobe, two things really:

  1. My wife calls it, and I quote… " Boy Time" aka Scale Modeling.
  2. Friends outside of the hobby title it," Dude, you’re an adult- play with Sony!"
Funny thing is, everytime I finish something they ogle over it for a while and talk about how an adult with a steady eye for detail really makes it look realistic and fascinating. I am so used to calling it “Boy Time” that it is the official title at my house. Anyways, most importantly welcome to the Forum Kobe! We look forward to reading your tips and suggestions and criticisms and hopefully seeing some of your work too.

Kobe welcome. I use scale modeling.[^]

…or ’ aeronuatical miniaturization as a proportional representation using solidified hydrocarbon material.
That should do it.
Cheers, Roy

Can you say that 10 times in a row ?
