How to wheather a SBD Dauntless

I hope this is not off topic.

How do you wheather a SBD dauntless??

I mean I have finished ny SBD and besides the wash I’d like to give her the baked paint look of some aircraft that stayed out in sun.

Do you have any favorite way to do it??

I will appreciate any recommendation.

There are different methods to create this illusion. Since your model is finished I would suggest a light overspray of heavily diluted light grey on all uppermost surfaces that would be in direct sunlight. If this method is used it must be done carefully as it is easy to get carried away and could end up looking like your matt coat had “frosted”. Done right, this method works. Obviously, make sure you re-mask your clear parts, cockpit openings and any other bits you don’t want the overspray on.

Thank you quarter scale.

Well she’s not really finished just added the decals and sealed with future in preparation for the wash, I can try your technique and then reapply the future and then the wash.

Makes sense to you??

Thxs.

Makes sense. This method can be used either before or after the final matt or satin coat. The stage your model is at right now is perfect.[;)]
