How to use Paasche's PASMT watertrap

Hi all,

With the summer I finally decided to get a water trap for my airbrush. To put things into perspective, I’ve been using my VL since around 1993 without one, so I guess it was about time…

So here are my problems: the one I got had NO instructions whatsoever, and Paasche does not post them up on their website. I would have thought it would be fairly intuitive, but so far I am totally confounded on how it works. There is a little thumb screw on one side, but no other apertures or openings. I can’t seem to figure out how I drain water from it! Additionally, when I hooked it up to my compressor, there was no airflow (air was just escaping from the air relief thumbscrew on the compressor coupling, with some very minor airpressure from the airbrush itself…I was testing it with a batch of Future). I know it was the hose, as I hooked up my old hose and it pushed paint like normal. So what am I doing wrong? Or is it I’m just completely ignorant on how this thing works (I suspect this…)?

Thanks!

Damon.

Which way did you install it? The thumb screw is supposed to be on the compressor side. Also, did you check to be sure that the outgoing side of your hose has no blockage from the installation? I’ve installed these on both of airbrush hoses and had no problem. As for draining, I just open the screw a little while I use the airbrush. I was fortunate enough to have someone show me how to install and use the trap many years ago. Hope this helps.
