How to fix a not so good paint job

I prepared the body by first sanding all the seams. I used a tack cloth to remove any residual dust. I used Tamiya fine primer. Once dry, I tacked it out again. I used Tamiya metallic blue for the body. (TS-19). I do all of my airbrushing out in my garage, with a respirator. If its raining or is a humid day, I will turn on my portable dehumidifier about two hour prior to any airbrushing.
When the dehumidifier says 50% or below, I start airbrushing. I got quite a bit of orange peel, after it was all said and done. Once the Paint cured for about 24 hours, I put several light coats of Tamiya clear on. After that cured for another 24 hours, I pulled out my trustee Novus #2 fine scratch remover.
Most important thing is to put on gloves prior to handling the body. I’ll cut a small piece out of an old T-shirt. (100%cotton), and then tightly wrap it around my finger. I’ll put a small dab of the polish on the end of my fingertip and then work in small circular motions on the body. You would be surprised how far one dab of polish will go.
When I first tried this method, I painted some scrap plastic and went to town. The results you see on the body are about two hours of work..

This process is very easy to use. You can get some amazing results if you put a little time into it.

Wow nice work! That kit is really unusual and very cool subject. I have never seen this kit before… I have seen some current Atlantis kits that look interesting to me. My wish list is growing longer. I typically don’t stash unbuilt kits due to storage limits but may have to alter my tactics. Learning so much here, thanks for sharing your techniques.

You have done a wonderful job on the body color and decals on this. I have seen this product mentioned a few times recently, I think I will ahve to give it a try myself. Is this the only after paint polishing steps you take? I currently use Tamiya’s 3 step process. But You seem to have produced very similar results with only 1 step haha.

This is the Atlantis kit in 1/16th scale. A great build. Thanks for the comment.

Yes. Primer, Paint, Clearcoat, then polish with number 2 only. A little bit goes a long way. That’s it. Easy to use, with some great results.
