Is the Hobbycraft 1/24 scale Mustang a good kit? There has been one at the hobby lobby for some time and it is on clearance for $79.99 now. I am thinking of picking it up since they are having a 40% off sale right now. Also are there any aftermarket upgrades for this scale? thanks.
I believe it’s a reboxing of the Trumpeter kit, you can probably find a review of that kit online.

Thanks. I looked on line and it sounded like trumpeter might have been the same model. as for aftermarket, I looked on squadron but didnt find any.
Go to the MDC site. They make resin and PE parts for large-scale aircraft, including that Mustang kit. They also have very good correction parts. I’m having to get a bunch of them for the 1:24 Trumpeter Spitfire I’m building, and I’ve already got everything from new prop blades, to horizontal stabs, to the control column, and have a half-dozen other things on the way. They have some good 1/24 PE harness sets that are priced quite reasonably.
In fact, for big resin or PE parts, most of their stuff is less expensive than much of the 1:48 accessories you see, like, say, 50-odd US bucks for a set of drop tanks for an F-111. Yes, I’ve seen it, and the more I read of the product/price list for this particular Australian firm, the worse it got.

The Hobby Craft 1/24 P-51 is a reboxed Trumpeter kit. I’m not going to tell what I “stole” it for at Hobby Lobby last year!

haha probably about as much as the 1/24 Spitfire Mk V was I “stole”… regular $120 marked down to $30.00… what I can kick myself for was not buying all 4 of them they had there… only picked up the one… went back about 2 hrs later to get them and they were all gone…
