Closest: 1.7 miles (about 2 klicks to the rest of the world)
Next, about 15 minutes cross town traffic, or another 15 inutes highway (much better) then 35 minutes highway, then an hour and 15 highway.
About 2 miles, but they have just about zot in stock, and there is only one shop in town. The guy that runs it is really good about ordering stuff though.
The one I go to more is about 30 miles (or 5 minutes [:o)]) drive. Very extensive stock there, but pricey. I get most of my stuff off the internet.

My favorite is about 6 miles from my house, second choice is about 8 miles.
I am green with envy. i can drive 10 min. to wally world for revell a/c, amt/revell/ertl autos, and model masters armor. i can drive 70 miles to find tamiya, hasegawa, and other quality kits from a cash only discount store, or from a “hobby shop” which in reality is a art store which sells kits. to find a real hobbyshop (plastic) i need to go to boise id, portland or, or seattle. there may be others but i am unaware of them.

[:-^]Aaahem…as close as my computer[(-D]
I use the computer for a few. But mostly the best ones (there are 2) are 3 hours away.
Well, for me, it’s about a 45 minute drive each way (and that’s to a chain Hobby Shop) Don’t have too many Mom & Pop shops around [:(]
So, I would say that, for “go to” shop, it’s just a few clicks away on the Web!
Hey fightnjoe,
At least you are still within a day’s drive of Emil’s place. My drive is about 15 minutes to one in just about all the cities I’ve lived in.
Well, now I’m living in Phoenix and I can get to that great hobby shop (it’s called the Hobby Depot) in Tempe, just a stone’s throw away from Arizona State University. The Craig Hewitt chapter of IPMS meets not too far from the Hobby Depot, so I can get in a trip to the hobby shop, perhaps have a delicious sausage-and-mushroom pizza in the same shopping center, then it’s less than a 15 minute drive to Craig Hewitt. Tempe is a bit far from where I live, so I did find a Hobby Lobby (I think that’s what it is) perhaps ten minutes away, but it’s nowhere near as good as Hobby Depot.
I even found a fairly nice model train shop that’s even closer than Hobby Lobby. They’ve got a good selection of oddball parts and things, but they’re not that fantastic train shop in Pasadena, California.
My hobby shop is only 5blocks up the street.Digger[:)][C):-)][:)]
11 miles from home.
My nearest model shop is 10 min away, but it sux…no idea of service (and no doubt he whinges how bad business is). Unfortunately I doubt that “Mr ‘T’ of Springwood” would be reading this!
There are 4 others in Brisbane all about 40 minutes away but they just don’t seem to carry a great deal of stock, no detail sets and not much for the more enthusiastic modeller. I get better service and products over the net from Squadron.
