How do you seal metalics and non together?

I have some figures im painting for my dad to sell on ebay (his idea) I wana seal them with a topcoat so they dont get the paint damaged but parts are painted metalic, I cant be gloss and flat kills the metalic… how can I go about this? anyone konw?

You csn find various sheens of clear coats. Check your local paint department at your hardware store or arts and craft store. There are several brands of aerosol clears.

Oh, I know. The issue is that, well, ill tell you exactly.

Its a CONTE Viking figure> Im painting the shield, its a metalic rim on wood. The wood cant be glossy but the metal cant be flat, I dunno how to get them both sealed without killing the finish on one part or another

or am I doomed to tedious masking?

As with most models, give it an overall clearcaot, say a satin then go back and gloss the highlights.

Thanks hawkeye
