As mentioned above, I was wondering if any of you guys have a more professional method of packing your finished models for flight? Do you,can you? carrie them on your lap? I took the time to visit the airport and found that the overhead compartments is 9x16x24 and I have the box matching these dimentions, however Ive heard horror stories about using the overheads. Maybe you could offer some advise.

Thanks Trevor M.

This might help.[2c]
Tell me how turns out.
I read something on the web about using expanding foam. A layer in the bottom of a box then a sheet of Saran Wrap and nestling the plane in it for a perfect mold. I don’t remember the details or how the top was finished but if I can find it again I will surely post it for you. Maybe somelse has seen this too and can post it but i will look.

This appears to be the best method, especially since your coming from Canada.
I would add only one small item to Swanny’s article. If your wife doesn’t have a Ginsu knife in the kitchen or you don’t want to risk her wrath by appropriating it, buy one of those cheapy, disposable utility knives. The kind with the orange handle and retractable blade. The blade is usually segmented and each segment can be broken off as it becomes dull. Cutting foam will dull a knife blade in just a few passes.

Don’t forgit the repair kit[xx(]. I feel like “Debbie Downer” but take along everything you need, tweezers, wire, sprue, 600 grit, whatever you’d need to fix it if some clod crunches your box. Take the kit and you won’t need it - Murphy’s Law

Thats a Great Idea! Thanks guys. This is a much more Confident and reliable way than what I was about to attempt with the box I had.
Cheers Trevor
