Just read through the January FSM (Battle of the Bulge issue) and the bonus supplement. Lots of nice armor! I particularly like the Rhodesian T-55A by Graeme Davidson in the supplement. This is the kind of detail and photography I like to see in an armor article. The inside front cover of the issue also has a nice Dragon ad showing the details and extras in the new Sd.Kfz. 251 3-in-1 kit – awsome! I don’t subscribe but I highly recommend this issue.
The issue I bought was packaged in a plastic sleeve with an FSM “Bonus Section” supplement. This includes the article on the Rhodesian T-55A buildup by a captain in the Canadian army, Graeme Davidson, as well as show pics from IPMS Rocky Mountain (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), and an article on a royal navy EH-101 helicopter. Perhaps this is a Canada-only supplement given its predominant Canadian content. Great articles- I wonder if the supplement is available outside Canada?
Gjek,
IIRC, you should be able to find more pictures and a short build review of the Rhodesian T-55 at missing-lynx.com. I think if you do a search on either the modern forum or the constructive comments forum, you should be able to find the pictures. Here is a link to some more pictures and information about Rhodesian T-55’s
awesome issue. once again, i loved the inside cover ad for dragon. each article was just what i like in one: lots of good pics, with detailed reference and explanation in the text. some of the pages seemed a little empty. ive found this to be recurring in these past couple issues. lack of info and pics is my explanation. but it wasnt too bad this issue. really enjoyed it.
we need more regular modlers to submit stuff for publication. thats the main reason for the slimness of the past few issues. come on people, start typin!
Speaking as a subscriber from day one (almost 300 pounds of magazines so far!), I can honestly say every issue is a great read. I look forward to each one for inspiration and new techniques to try.
I would have liked the supplement also. Sometimes, the ones on the newsstands come with extras and the subscription copies don’t include these (to entice new buyers). Of course, if it was only for those in Canada, I used to live in Montana and that is almost Canada, can you send me my copy.[:D]
Around here, some of the grocery stores carry it on their magazine shelves. Wal-mart occasionally has model mags, and Barnes and Nobel also carries FSM.
I have seen this to be true. Unfortunately, this kind of ticks me off. It is a great bone of contention for me with FSM. It makes me want to not subscribe!
