… I have the Iwata CS gravity feed airbrush, the one with the paint cup built on top, and I was wondering the following: if you need to spray just a small part or area, do you mix it in the cup itself or how else? And what do you use to mix it with? like stir it up.
Put a few drops of paint in the airbrush cup and the amount of thinner you need with an eyedropper, then stick the eyedropper into the paint at the bottom of the cup and squeeze the bulb on the eydropper sucking the paint into it.
Do this a few times and it mixes the paint and thinner pretty good.
If you have such a small amount that you can’t really use an eyedropper then you can stick a paintbrush down into the bottom of the cup and mix the paint around with the bristles by dabbing it around the bottom of the cup.

Another thing you can use are these little plastic paint containers, availble from Walmart or Michaels. Basically, they are little cups, about the size of your thumb, with a snap-on lid. They are molded on a sprue, so you have to cut them off prior to use and depending on the packag quanity are about ten cents each. The nice thing about them is that their snap-on lids fit tight enough that you can store the paint that you mixed, so that if you need to shoot a second coat, do some touch up. or the like, you have the paint available.

hmm that sounds interesting… what department did you see those in Walmart, Andy?
I don’t remember the exact location specifically, because I was wandering about more than I was shhopping for anything specific. I was near their model building area but I think it was more of the hobbies and crafts section. I’m almost positive that I’ve seen almost the same exact thing at Michael’s near their artist’s paints area. They certainly are handy for mixing up wee bits of paint.
