I was working on my Hasegawa F6F-3 and I had this curious feeling to compare it to the Hobby Boss kit which I have not opened yet. I was surpised to see the amount of detail that HB put into their kit. Just in the cockpit alone, I was impressed by the amount of detail. It also has the engine mount not to mention a few. Also an option to build it with folded or straight wings. At the cost compared to my hasegawa kit, I would like to ask, “How do they do that?”
Hobby Boss is made in China. It’s a socialist economy (well, capitalist government, socialist local economy). They have very low labor cost and factory overhead when compared to Japan. That lets them undercut the competition.
On the other hand, Hasegawa kits are often overpriced in my opinion. They are proud of their brand name. Hasegawa makes a fine product, but others (even those from capitalist economies) also make good products for less money.
