Hello everyone, I just had another question. I have a huge jar of paint thinner and all kinds of chemicals that are broken down that I need to get rid of. When I am done airbrushing I spray in the jar when cleaning it out. But I want to know how do I get rid of all these chemicals. Don’t worry, I don’t dump it in the ground or down drains![:0] I live in the US, so do I contact a chemical center or do I open the lid and let it evaporate outside? That might be bad. I haven’t done anything yet with it but it’s getting full and I need to do something with it. Thanks everyone.
How about the places that take old motor oil? Around here a lot of the auto parts stores take it, but I don’t know if they would let you dump that in; maybe, maybe not.
That is a good question [%-)]
Maybe you could contact a hardware store that deals with paints and other related stuff. That’s a very good question you raised.

Mixing it with old motor oil is a no-no. They would not be too pleased with you. Do you have a local household hazardous waste collection station nearby? We even have a “wastemobile” that makes regular rounds in the area. This is just the kind of stuff they want, just to keep it out of the ground or the water.
The garbage dumps in my area have a hazardous waste station. Give yours a call, you should be able to at least get some advice from them.
Um, no. But I’ll try to find out.
Around here our local firehalls accept old paint, oil, and other chemicals like that. It’s free of charge and they take care of disposing of the materials safely. Might be worth a shot.
Our collections in the L.A. area are on a rotating basis around the Southland. Check and see if there’s a website listing dates and locales.
