How big is your model stash?

My stash is fairly moderate, considering some of the massive collections you guys have!

My current worldwide stash as of July 23, 2005 is 223 kits, with 134 here in Japan and 89 back in the States (stashed at my folk’s house!).

Tamiya’s new 1/35 Leclerc was today’s addition! [:)]

at most i have about 2-4 and i have at least 18 done except i just make them out-of-the-box so very quickly

I have 20 models ranging from aircraft to cars to tanks. Many of them I purchased during the 3 week half-off sale on models due to my Hobby Lobby moving. This week I bought a Dragon 1/35 Tiger I Initial 3 in 1.

Holy cow Brian!!! Moderate? 223 kits??? lol - I couldn’t name 223 planes!

TJ - don’t forget that your stash will expand to fit the space available. Look at Wolf’s basement! He now daren’t remove the kits from the basement, in case the house drops in and they have to call it a bungalow! [;)]

Nuthin’ but McCulloch baby!!!

Well, I measure a cat’s ‘scale’ differently than that of a model. She’s a 10 on the scale of sneaky deviousness… (is that a word?)

One to build, one to mess up and one to help salvage the one you’re building when you mess that up as well… seriously, this is sort of an addiction. I must say though, that much of what I have was acquired fairly cheaply and so I can justify all the dupes.

I must admit, the aircraft, armor and some of the cars were originally mine. Many of the cars in these photos were my Dad’s which I inherited. As to cellars… the cellar in my parents’ house wasn’t big enough so my Dad and I had to build a floor up in the garage to store more kits… more on that later…

I could build them all, yes. But they’d look pretty ragged. They will definitiely last more than a lifetime. You see, I figure that I was put here on this Earth to build a certain number of models. Right now, I’m so far behind I will never die…

And we’ll see what we can do to oblige on the ‘detail’ shots… [;)]

Well, it’s an older suit from the 60s or 70s but yes… pretty much… I’m currently researching the who, what, where, why, when and how of this particular suit. I believe it was just a test article my Dad’s company used… I don’t think it’s flown hardware…

BUT… did you notice the camera bag that guy’s got? I think it’s a third-run limited edition (only 3,000,000 made!) Fingerhut freebie given away with every camcorder and VCP/TV they sold. It’s made of the higher-quality reinforced water-retaining cheesecloth canvas unique to Fingerhut and it’s got the real synthetic leather trim. All those limited edition bags came in burgandy, a color not used in their regular editions of this bag, so this has GOTTA be one of the limited editions…

No… LOL

I think the stash that I’ve built up on my own is around 700. I once had as many as 1500 or so but I buy and sell alot and so really dunno what it’s at now. But my Dad always put me to shame. When he passed away he only had 1200-1400 left from a stash of around 4000. But if you think that’s alot there was a fella in my area a long time ago who had many, many more…

No prob! Always glad to give folks a look ‘behind’ the scenes…

and

These last two comments are part of the reason I like to post these pictures over and over. (Other than to show off… [;)]) It gives one’s significant other (or one’s mother…) a yardstick by which to measure and may help take some heat offa my fellow modelers… [:p]

Glad ya’ll enjoyed the virtual tour…

Fade to Black…

Well, have you seen BlackWolf’s stash? Yup, I’m moderate!

It’s not all planes, of course. It’s a mix of armor, aircraft, and sci-fi, with a dash of automobile.

I just looked over my inventory list and it totals 301. 12 weapons/ground crew sets, 2 D8H Caterpillar dozers, 28 1/25 cars, 4 1/25 Mack trucks, 1 Pizza Hut building, 1 San Francisco Cable Car and the rest airplanes. Multpile kits include:
5 A-10
6 B-52
6-F18
7 F-15
4 P-51
7 P-47
25 F-105
26 F-4
27 SR-71
My wife knows exactly how many kits I have and encourages my sickness by telling me to buy more. We both went to Hobby Lobby two days ago and I was going to settle for 1 kit. She told me to get two others that I was looking at as well. I do attend air shows occasionally to take some “detail” shots, but she does frown on those. We visited the USS Alabama in Mobile a few years ago and I took a whole roll of video of the ship including some “detail” as it climbed a ladder above me. When that scene showed on the TV, I got a swift elbow in the ribs.

Well, I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 230+ kits in my stash; mostly aircraft and armor, some ships, a couple buildings, two cars, and three Sci Fi kits. Compared to what I have built however, I am doing great.

Now ask how many models everyone has built already!

(mine: 960+ built)[;)]

I have 5 kits [:(]maybe I could start the NIck Santos Kit Foundation[:D]
Blackwolf-HOw do you pick which kit do you want to build?Do you just grab one or Stare at them all day and finally decide one?

Wolf would seem to just run into his LHS, grab an armful from the shelf, dash to the cash till with his eyes shut & pay for them. You’ve gotta admit though - they’re lovingly stored & tastefully arranged so all the boxes of the dupes are the same way round! [;)]

There’s also a tiny picture of him in one of the shots. His ID tag from when he goes to work occasionally. Must do a pic of my stash… as long as you promise not to laugh!

I’ve got about 10 in my stash but it is signicantly increasing by the day!

Okay, for the record, here’s what I’ve got:

What I’m working on currently: Glencoe 1/74 scale Martin MB-2 biplane bomber.

In the stash (most of these were gifts!):

1/64 scale wooden Brig Lexington using a semi-kit from The Lumberyard (more info at: www.briglex.org)

Revell 1/144 scale B-52G

Revell 1/72 Yak-38
Roden 1/72 Fokker D.7 (Alb.-built, early), with a Part PE set

Zdevda 1/72 Yak-6 twin-engined transport
Fujimi 1/72 F-14D Tomcat
Revell 1/72 F-14D Tomcat

Special Hobby (I think) Piper L-4 Cub (you can see an example built by another modeler here: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal3/2001-2100/Gal2056_Piper_Costa/gal2056.htm)

DML 1/48 Spad 13
Monogram 1/48 P-61
Monogram 1/48 P-38
Monogram 1/48 Grumman F9F Panther

Testors/Italeri 1/35 Panzer H

AMT Millennium Falcon

That makes 19 total. I’m working on the MB-2 and have started the wooden ship kit (a looooong-term project!).

Regards,

DANG…Nothing but the dreaded Red X’s in Blackwolf’s last post.

Kurt

400+ and still growing

B…b…build? Wazzat?

Actually I have done the 'close ‘yer eyes and reach into the pot’ thing. But more often than not I spend a meaningful evening with the kids kits and we discuss our plans in great detail…

I don’t have to go looking for stuff at the shop, they know what I want and it’s waiting for me when I get there… [;)]

Lovingly stored and tastfully arranged… very kind way of saying that I must get a life and stop being so anal… [:p]

Work? No, I don’t work. I’m a professional freelancer. That tag was from a visit to MEGAMODELCORP Industries, the hobby shop where you get carded upon entrance.

They have financial advisors waiting in the lobby in case someone goes off the deep end and they also provide many other services such as truck rentals and air freight. Another service they offer is an implanted microchip and pager system so when you have an AMS attack (Advanced Modeler Syndrome) you can hit the panic button, they can see where you are from the signals emitted from the chip and they’ll airdop model stuff directly onto your location…

Very handy bit of kit, as you Brits might say…

Show us your stash, we won’t laugh. Speaking for myself, I’ll probably look and wish I was sane again…

Fade to Black…

Photobucket seems to be having a bad day…

Fade to Black…

I’ve answered this question once before and Er - well the problem is being employed in this Industry and running a Resin AM and Contract model Making business, my stash at last count was 600 in the unassembled kits, 45 in progress builds and 9 contracted clients kits. {A planed kull of some of these kits will eventuate in the next 6 too 9 months}

The storage facilities I used, for the unassembled kits. [Prior too moving house]

These models are of my own collection that are in progress, [some have been in this state for 2 years], as when time permits between contract and client builds, or my teaching of either basic airbrushing or modelling techniques, to school clubs or begineer modellers. [The current workshop]

OMG! Lobbie’s got a Humbrol display rack!!! That’s AWESOME [;)]

Seriously - you guys have so much more space turned over to storage than I’ll ever have to model in. Unless I get me a shed down the garden…

Ok guys… here it is:

As you can see, my space is TINY, which is probably a good thing, as it’d only end up spread all over the place! Need more room for kits though![:D]

btw - that’s my Wyvern on the desk, getting some resin air-intakes fitted.
