Does anyone know how the pace cars are chosen for races, especially the Indy 500 & Daytona 500? Do the track officials choose the cars, or is there some kind of influence from the Detroit people? This is something that I’ve always wondered about.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Who has the most wins the Pace car competition.
Don
yeah i think money is the main reason
Let me rephrase the question. How are the nominees chosen? I realize that money has to play some factor in the final decision (although I seriously doubt that it’s the only factor), but isn’t there a list, or group, of cars to choose from initially?
Whichever manufacturer gives the track the most money gets to supply the pace car.
Bingo
And where can I find something to verify this? It can’t be that simple. Is there a sealed bid that takes place? The answers that I’m getting for this question seem to be based on what someone heard from someone, who heard it from someone else, who heard it from someone else, etc., etc. Sorry if I’m sounding pissy about this, because I’m really not, but I’ve tried finding this info on the internet, and can’t find any reference to it, which means that I’m probably looking in the wrong places. I just want to know what the “official” way of choosing a pace car is, from start to finish.
EACH TRACK HAS A CYCLE OF PACE CARS THAT IT CYCLES FROM BUT $ HAS ALOT TO DO WITH IT TO
