How about painting raised panel lines?

I see lots of posts about re-scribing panel lines, which sounds like a whole lot of work, especially with my relative inexperience.

How to go about painting them or accenting them? I have a Monogram MiL-24 Hind that has raised panel lines, and I’d just as soon leave them and work with them.

There are several approaches you can take.

Paint the raised lines with a darker color—dark gray or gray brown. Apply multiple coats. Paint and weather as desired. Finally, very lightly sand the raised lines with 1000 grit or finer (finer is better) wet or dry sandpaper (wet) until the darker color you initially sprayed just shows through.

Instead of accenting the lines, use a wash, different tint of the base color, or chalk/pigment to accent the adjacent panels slightly differently.

Use a thin wash applied along the panel lines. This wash must only be applied on one side of any given panel line.

You can also use combinations of the above techniques. All require patience and a little practice.
