Houston, we've had a problem......

Absolutely brilliant work, Lancair - the metal finishes are stunning!

Very nice, indeed!

Hey Rob, Wow! Cool project. Photobucket shows its usual crap with slow loading, ads and small picture. Not your fault! Anyway, Looks good! What’s the kit and scale?

Max

BTW, I do a special intrest in your project. As a photographer I covered the restoration of Apollo 13. Peeked inside, ran the hatch mechanism, all in awe of course! A good assignment!

Outstanding.

Is that the 1/48 kit?

I was in “Junior High” in 1970. 13 years old.

This was a big deal. When 13 came back from the translunar trip (farthest out into space anyone has ever gone), we sat at our work tables in metal shop while the radio from Houston played.

We had no idea of all of the brilliant engineering that saved the flight, but we thought of it as a lifeboat reaching for the shore.

I really think it’s one of the most remarkable stories of the 20th Century.

The CSM looks to be Monogram’s 1/32 kit. As for the LM, it may be the Vista Replicas 1/32, a rare kit indeed.

Super in every way. Very, very good job…

Superb work!!

I was in high school when this happened. Bill Anders (Apollo 8) was a family friend and having dinner at our house the night the incident began. I answered the phone during dinner and a very serious sounding voice asked to speak to Col. Anders. Bill returned to the table a few minutes later looking ashen and told us there was a problem and he had to leave right away. Several months later when we saw him again, he told us there was absolutely no reason they should have made it back other than luck and prayer.

Whenever he visited, the first thing Bill wanted to do was check-out whatever models I had finished recently. You can imagine the feelings a high-schooler would have talking models with an Apollo astronaut, he was that kind of guy, still is.

That looks awesome. Well done. I would love to see some close ups.

Hi ;

I do so agree or ditto ! T.B.
