Horton hears a HO (229)

There is a LOT to this kit…probably too much.

Starting with the engines…nothing beyond the first fan will be seen. 27 pieces each…all of 3 of them will ever be seen.

Totall of 66 parts, each.

Still looks really sharp though

Zoukei Mura makes some of the most amazing kits. The Jumo engines looks awesome.

Looking great!

Wonder if it would be possible to display one of the engines with the case half uncovered or removable, to show the compressor/turbine section wheels with blades? Agree, those are some impressive details, shame to not allow visible access to the engine interior of one.

Patrick

So much detail to be covered up… it almost begs for a cutaway build!

Thanks guys![t$t]

It will be…to some degree. One wing and engine exposed.

…exactly what I was thinking…

Enjoyed the thread title, btw.

Looks great Fermis! I’m just starting the very same kit… Lots of pieces to this bird eh?

Thanks guys!

Yes…not a lot of fun had, lots of hours spent on nothing more than cleaning up the mold lines on these parts. Then, place a part and test fit the next few parts to make sure things will line up down the road. The top frame piece(hat goes on after the engines) has 40 some-odd contact points with the lower frame and engines. Ya think lining up a top wing of a biplane is PITA with 4 contact points…[:|]

Finally got some more work done. Phase 2 is finished up. The left wing will have the structure exposed, and everything that is wood, will be painted as “wood”…going with a half-n-half sorta thing.

“Phase 3” will be the pit.

Holy cow, Fermis!!

This is virtuoso level work!!!

Simply astounding! O.O

Might be easier to build up the Saturn launch tower!

Wow, looks amazing so far!!!

You are doing a great job on this very detailed kit. Watching with interest as I have this in my stash as well. I plan on using the Uschi wood grain decals for the finish, they released a set specifically for this kit.

Keep up the great work.

Crazy Nice !

Chris

Whoa! How cool is that?! OK, You win. [:^)]

Max

Thanks guys!

I have those decals for this as well!

“Phase 3”…probably the smallest “phase”…is done…

Here’s something stupid.

They go through all the trouble to give you all this great detail…and there’s separate engine covers for only the dumb end of the engine, and leave the smart end covered up…the end that has the most detail. Looks like I’ll be doing some cutting and modification here.

Excellent work so far.

I’m watching your build as I have the 1/48 kit in my stash and I plan to build it this year.
