Horten/Gotha 229 in 1/48th

Does anyone know where I could get a hold of one of these babies in the UK? I can get a PM Models 1/72nd scale kit for £2.99, but I’d much prefer to have it in “my” scale if possible. [8D]

check e-bay? I see them there quite often.

Try Squadron Mail order.(www.squadron.com)There is apicture of it on page57 of the May 2005 FSM.

http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=DR5505 There she is on Squadron - £20 if I include shipping…not too bad considering the distance. It doesn’t seem to be available on Hannants though, which would be much easier from a point of view of speed of delivery & cost of shipping [:(]

Dragon are bringing one out in 1.72nd with full interior kit number 5027
theres nothing in the lastest cataloge of them rereleasing there 2 Horton kits in 1,48th

hmmm… thanks for that Cavey. At least now I know that I’ll need to buy from the US if I want one, or check the Bay of Es every now & again. Last time I saw one on there, they were shipping from the Orient, and the postage was as much as the kit!

I just can’t bring myself to model in 1/72nd, unless it’s a big subject like the Vulcan, or my latest mini-obsession, the He 177.

ive herd that if you buy from the states or the East that the order could still beat Hannants on price and delivery time

have you checked http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/ for kits?
they havnt got the Horton in but they have great prices on kits and are fast in there delivery

I was lucky I picked up the day and night fighter 2nd hand. Try local clubs to see if anybody wants to get rid of one, or go to swap and sell meetings to see what they have.[:)]

Caveman I’ve seen glaciers move faster than Hannants!!! My last order took 18 days to cover 150 miles!!!

Mike That Dragon kit is great on detail, but appaling on fit, like most Dragon kits!

Karl

I had the PM kit, it’s extremly basic, very little to no details, raised panellines etc.
I would stay clear of the PM kit

Wouldn’t know where to look to find a club/meet round my way… [?]

KJ - I’ve never had problems with Hannants being too slow. The stuff’s usually with me within a week or so. What was it you ordered that took so long? I suppose they can only keep so much in stock at a time… I’d prefer it if they added online order tracking & such to the site. That’d probably save them a whole lot of time answering queries.

Remco - Thanks for the heads up on the PM kits. Had already decided against them, but now I won’t be tempted to relent.
