Horse Latitudes

Awfully quiet in here. Is this the winter doldrums? Thought I’d break the silence by passing along a movie I saw the other night ( dvd ) : " Tangerines ". A good story set against the Georgian-Abkhazian fracas in the 90’s.

Unfortunately on my days off here for the past few weeks it has been unseasonably HOT… I mean mid summer type heat. And due to certain circumstances, it is not comfortable to be working at my area of the garage. So no progress for me to post in the past couple of weeks, aside from a bit of minor decaling… [:|]

Yes today at 6.30 am when I went out; 73 deg. spitting rain and 30-40 mph winds.

Think I was living in the tropics.

You are… you’re getting the “Pineapple Express” thanks to El Nino… Due to a high pressure system parked off shore making us to the south feel like it’s mid July with cloudless skies and mid 80s on the shoreline…[ip] Otherwise your rain would be hitting here…[li]

Anyone care to swap?

We had about an inch of snow yesterday, and today it is hovering around the upper 20’s maybe low 30’s. They do say we are in for a warm snap by Friday, they are calling for mid 50’s through the weekend. I will say, we have had a very mild winter in Northern Illinois. The snow fall has been minimal and the cold hasnt been extreme. I wont complain. [:)]

Getting a little tired of the pacific northwet, but after the past couple of dry years it is a welcome change. I sit on a BLM/USFS advisory council, so I tend to watch fire season closely, and the past few have been whoppers all across the west. The snow pack is finally at average around here so will help come summer. Ran over to Bend last Sat., and there was about 4 feet roadside on top at the pass. Was hoping to see around 6, but last year there was none.

And then there’s the silver lining.

Well I can’t complaint here in Central Florida. Got up today at 630am and was 48 but 73 by 10am and has staid at 73 for the high. It’s bright, sunny and breezy. Really nice weather. I’m sitting out back by the pool with my two dogs and a very loud African Gray.

Unseasonably warm here in Phoenix. It had been unseasonably warm in the L.A. area too but a friend of mine living in the San Fernando Valley part of L.A. just called and reported that he’s getting rain over there. Unfortunately, it won’t get to Arizona.

Seems like in California and Arizona, El Nino has been more like “El No-Sho.”

Saturday we had windchills of 20+ below zero. Yesterday was 54 and pouring. New England weather if you don’t like it wait 10 minutes it will change

This tread looks like a weather report [st][li]…Well, it is raining (again) here in Vancouver, we don’t call it the wet coast for nothin’ [:)]. I feel like a retired person as I am on leave of absense from work for 5 weeks due to a new baby [blns]. Will start with work next week, gotta make few $$$ for those diapers, eh? (and new kits [angl] ). Managed to do some work on the Russian Stalinets artilery tractor, even squeezed in few runs and bike rides.

Cheers…[:)]

Well a hardy congrats on the addition of the baby. I’m retired but I’m presently babysitting my 3 month old granddaughter so my son and his wife can work.

It slows down as it moves east…seems like it is around 3 minutes here lately. My weather rock is getting a workout this year.

Certainly a change from last couple of winters of heavy snows and bitter cold…Dieu Merci…[:D][Y]

[:$]…I only just now ( after posting ) checked to see if this was a zombie thread…hafta check back again in a couple of decades…[whstl]
