i work at a hospital and a large portion of our patient population are seniors, with a large number of them being war vets. to listen to the guys who were in the air force talk about the planes they flew and the way they are still in love with them is truly inspirational. this fellow in the video is a perfect example and you can see, in that last bit with him sitting in the cockpit, the love he has for this aircraft. the goofy grin and then he manages “you know…its been a long time”
thats a day hes going to remember for eternity

Outstanding video, thanks for sharing it… Doing my own “Blues” tribute with the aircraft… So far, I’ve got the Hellcat, Bearcats (Butch Voris’ #1 and the yellow “Beetle Bomb”), SNJ Beetle Bomb, and F7U Cutlass. Little Blues trivia, I was sitting in the O’Club tent at the CAF airshow in ‘96 (Blue’s 50th) talking and sharing a beer & war stories with this guy who was arguing with me and a couple other CAF Colonels about “Round Motors vs Pointy-noses” and havin’ a good time with it as one of the Bearcats flew past… He remarked that he’d absolutely loved flying that aircraft, and after a bit, we found out that we were sitting with none other than Blue Angel One hisself, Butch Voris… Later that day, after the show, the Blues were with us eating the BBQ, and the current Blue’s Boss was there with Butch and I noticed that, even though the other Blues called their lead “Boss”, HE referred to Butch as “Boss”…

Yeah, those were the days of meeting aviation celebreties on a regular basis… Far too many of those guys have Gone West since then… I’m glad I got meet a lot of them, and even call a few of them “friends”… No actor, athlete, politician, or musician is higher up on my “meet list” than those guys who flew in WW2…
not just flew…served in WWII…I admire these men more than I could ever tell! Recently, I read a news article about a man who fought in a major battle in WWII, and “won” (earned) medals…and for the life of me, I cannot recall his name!..had recently died, and he lived a few minutes drive from me! I wish I had known him, to hear his stories, I would haveloved to befriend that gentleman!
