Hobbycraft P-59 WIP

This is a kit I have just pulled out of the “needs to be finished” box and thought I would post some pictures of it. It’s the Hobbycraft 1/48th kit and it needs a bit of help coming out of the box. I used the Cutting Edge cockpit set. The biggest knock I have with this kit is the COMPLETE lack of anything inside the intakes. I am going to have to make intake covers to hide this. I am open for advice and constructive critism. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy.

Looks good. The Cutting Edge interior set is kinda pricey, but it does set the model apart. Don’t see it often in the experimental Navy scheme. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

I have this kit with a resin pit as well. I’ve never seen the Navy scheme built until yours…well done! I crawled all over the P-59 in Dayton, so if you are in need of intake references, send me a PM. Beautiful 'comet!

Thanks for the offer but its already together. I had a lot of reference before I started but decided to go the intake cover route early on since there really isn’t an “intake” persay. Its just a big hole with tons of wires and plumbing and a couple of engines sitting back in there somewhere.

Yeah. The resin is pricey but when you compare it to the kit cockpit you almost have to get it.

I always thought the Navy scheme was cool. Plus since it wasn’t like that very long, it stayed clean. [:P]

[#ditto]. well done indeed!

WOW, that is one sweet lookin build Wayne… I especially like the interior as well as for the ip…

I am looking forward to seeing it at the up coming show season…!!

Flaps up,

Mike

Upcoming show season? I still have to put the canopy and gear doors on it. There is just not enough time. [:D]

LMAO…[:P][:D] This is very true…!!

Flaps up,

Mike

Wow! Now that’s a whole lotta fun just looking at your pictures posted! Very well done on the build, and the paint scheme is extremely pleasing to the eyes![tup]
