hobbycraft f-105d

does anyone know anything about the 1/32 f-105d from hobbycraft? i was in hobby lobby the other day when i happened to look up and staring me right in the face was the kit. is it an old release just reissued or what? i looked up hobby craft on the net but didn’t find anything listed on their site.i was curious about the kit.

Are we already beginning to see the start of piracy on Trumpeter’s kit, which apparently has already become an instant classic? Where is Hobbycraft headquartered these days? Just curious.
But then, it just hit me. It’s the Chinese government that refuses to do anything about piracy of intellectual property, like music and movies and the design of model kits. It would be more than a little ironic (and certainly funny) to see them get heist by their own 40 mm grenade. But I suppose we should get the facts before I gloat. Has anyone else seen this specter in 1/32 scale? If one Hobby Lobby has it, shouldn’t most of them?
Tom

The Hobbycraft kit is in fact a re-box of the Trumpeter, but it’s not pirated. All nice & lagally licensed.

I saw one yesterday at my Lobby, and it’s only $49.99. Now if it had been there when that 50% off coupon was in effect[;)]. If it is a reboxed Trumpeter, then maybe someone else owns the molds, like some songwriters who sell their tune to a country, and then an R&B act?

They’ve done the same thing with the P-40 in 1/32. The Hobbycraft is a very nice AVG (Flying Tigers) with a super picture on the front.

I saw that F105 the other day at Hobby Lobby too… it did look nice but I was after a few more kits for group builds etc so didn’t pick it up… I woulnd’t mind doing that one myself… that be a nice looking bird on the ceiling (only place I would have room for it)

I didn’t build Trumpeter’s D-model, but I did build the G-model and it’s a great one. A few minor problems, but all in all a great kit. Assuming the Hobbycraft kit has the same plastic gear that the Trumpeter kit has, I’d recommend some metal gear legs. It is not a light model, and I’ve read that the gear has trouble holding it up. I didn’t even try them, just went ahead and used metal gear. Also, if it’s the same as Trumpeter’s, the BlackBox cockpit would be a good addition.

You’re right about the landing gear being weak, I think it’s a problem with all Thud kits. I built a Monogram “F” model in the mid 80’s and had all sorts of trouble with the landing gear holding up. It kept going “thud” on my shelf. If I get that “D” model of Revell’s out, I’ll probably try to hunt up some metal gear or shore the kit pieces up.
