WIP. kinda fun. sitting next to a CENTAURO 8X8 this will look even uglier than usual. actually designed in mid ww2. AMX-13 oscillating 75mm turret. the front and back are very similar so you have to be careful. the 4 middle wheels in the kit are rubber like the tires but they were steel so i primed them, painted them steel, overppainted in MMA medium green, powdered them up with soot and old rust. the green looks better than in the pics. will use the same color on towed ww2 soviet 122mm.

Looks good. An weird looking vehicle with cross genre possibilities. I guess the center four wheels were cast in ‘rubber’ to make it cheaper to manufacture?

Nice one Wayne! I always thought this AFV was both wierd AND cool looking! If I recall correctly, the AMX-13’s 75mm gun was modeled after the German Panther’s 75mm gun!
Funny…they front kind of reminds me of the Soviet BT-5/7 tanks…[^o)]
2nd build of the year. will finish up SHO’T KAL this week and prime M1931 soviet 122mm when weather warms up. generic base so the tires look a tad high in spots. the skirt around the turret was a rough fit but some sanding and whiteglue along the top edge filled in the gaps nicely. driver’s hatches didn’t fit that well and the tires, onec again, had dinky little attachment points especially compared with tamiya road wheel arms. have to be careful on the build as the front and back look quite similar. certainly not as mean looking as a CENTAURO.

I find it so odd they’d use vinyl for the center steel wheels…prime market for a nice resin upgrade I guess.

Nice job, weird subject. I’m suprised at the lack of French engineering, push-me-pull-you or can-run-away-as-fast-as-it-got-there jokes.
I may take a good look at the kit as a possible turret donor for an Egyptian Sherman hybrid thingie.
the german 8x8 LUCHS had a rear driver and it looks like the V-150 4x4 COMMANDOs have rear drivers too. makes sense for a recon vehicle. would certainly be different. from the idf armor museum 
this thing is small.
