are your relatives Chinese? they will tell you better. also I do not remember there were any big shops. all I found was family owned one room shop. but really good place is called, flower-bird market, I translate it word by word, it is like a flee market. all shopes are very small and same category seller are organized together. so you will see competation among them, you will benefit from that. Price there is very good. I brought big trunk of models. I took all plastic parts out of box and threw the boxes away. and squeszz all plastic parts into my trunck. do not forget save the instruction manual.

Beijing being a major city, I would imagine that there are at least some toy stores that you can visit. I was in Guangzhou recently and there was a toy store there that carried some Trumpeter models. unfortunately I didn’t have time to buy anything. but stuff there is very cheap, even cheaper than Hong Kong.

by any chance are you going to Hong Kong? it is more expensive there than in China, but still around 30%-50% less than here in the U.S.

if you are going to pass shanghai i know two places that i checked out the last time i went to shanghai for like a two months stay. the prices are some PE kits and DML models were incredibly good. try a Stug III ausf A for about 6 dollars equivalent. it’ll help you better if you know some friends in Beijing who makes models as well. in smaller family shops you can at least bargain for an even better price if you buy in bulk. i think i carried out 7 kits from one place. happy hunting.

can TOMZAG, please e-mail me at: anthony.masterchief@gmail.com and tell me where i should look to find “flower-bird market”? i think i know it, but i’m not sure. my relatives are chinese, but none of them make models. i’m pretty sure that is the place my uncle (from the US, he’s in Germany right now) was able to get a really good deal for a Trumpeter Flanker, last time i asked i think he paid the equivalent of $50 USD for the kit and a detail set thingy.

thanx guys,

Anthony
