I hate to not buy from the locals, but then they probably make plenty off of my supply fetish.
Picked up the
Tamiya Bubbletop P-47D ($39 to $18)
Tamiya F-117 ($45 to $22.50)
Accurate Miniatures SBD-3 ($34 to $17) (only because I wanted to try an AM kit based on the raves on the site)
Plus a plethora of small kits for my small ones. I dropped $88 bucks, but it could have been a LOT worse.
My local store did have the 1:32 Iraqi Freedom F/A-18 too, but YMMV.

Mike,
I built AM’s SBD-5. Definately a great build. Lots of parts requiring meticulous positioning in some cases, though. Fit twice glue once.
Thanks for the heads up… isn’t it funny how a sale can inspire you to spend so readily.
Whats the web address for it. I have tried www.hobbylobby.com and that one has very little for aircraft. Most of the models on that site are Monogram with one ME 109E trop from Tamiya.
Falcon, you have to go to the phyrsical store to get the models and discount. If you don’t have a HL in your area, than you’re kinda excluded from the deal. But realize this, with HL it’s a hit or miss whether or not they’ll have a decent modeling selection in addition to whether or not it’s maintained well. Also, each store carries a different selection it seems like. for example, umiami picked up the Tamiya F-117, but I haven’t seen that plane at any of the five or six HL’s I’ve visited.
My wife: “Honey! I saved a bunch of money buying these $100 shoes at 50% off!”
Me: “You could have saved a bunch more had you not bought them in the first place!”

Well, I’m definitely in the “excluded” category! There aren’t any Hobby Lobbies in Southern California. A month or so ago, I had business in Wisconsin, and saw one there. So, I’m all excited, wondering how I am going to fit all of the good deals everyone is always talking about into my carry on suitcase. And then was pretty disappointed. They had a few Tamiya kits, and a few of the Amtech Mistels too, but overall for my tastes there wasn’t anything. Oh well, maybe next time!
[sigh][sigh] Oh well I guess I will just have to sit back and find some sales on line at another site.
