HMS Victory stern, gold or yellow?

Does anyone know if the trim on the stern section of HMS Victory is gold or yellow?

Thank you,

DJ

Definitely yellow,or more correctly even BUFF. You can get all the info you need and model making tips at VICTORY’S site .www.hms-victory.com/modelmakers.htm

You need to remember that the way color was made back in 1750-1840’s was vis chemical compound, the base color for Yellow was Sulphur. So after it was applied it faded rather quickly. I’ve used “Floquil reefer Yellow” on all of the HMS Victory’s I’ve done the yellow truned to buff afte abot 6 months.

I was just about to get back on that. As long as it is not too bright a yellow you should be ok. As the Victory site says, it is a YELLOW OCHRE colour.

If you look in your local art shop at the oil painting colours, find yellow ochre and use that as your guide, remember model paints dry slightly different from the colour in the tin or bottle.

lolok and Jake, lots of gratitude for the replies. Since I’ll be spending quite a bit on the Heller kit I’ve got to make doubly sure it’s all accurate. Special thanks for the website.
