White Ensign now has a P.E. kit available for the Trumpeter HMS Roberts 1/350 kit.
Cool and thanks for posting it Marcus, I picked the Roberts up when she came out and have been wondering if anyone would produce a PE set. Did they produce a new set or is this the set that goes with their resin kit of the Roberts/Ambercrombie?

I just checked the WEM site and found the answer to my question. This is very cool. One thing I will be looking for is a replacement for the twin 20mm.

The kit has been on pre-order for several months and they state it is for the Trumpeter kit. I will find out soon, I ordered mind yesterday, L28 plus shipping.
Great! Always wanted to build a late Monitor, so looking to pick up the kit. Always use PE sets if I can get them.
Online reviews show a lot of PE tossed in with the kit.

More detail PE for the 4 & 8 barrel assemble, replacement 4" gun enclosures, radar details, detail paravane assembly for the bow, more for the main mast, upgrade boat fittings, cable reels, add-ons for the stern and up course more railings and ladders, we can always use more of those…
Sounds like new 15" gun barrels are important too.
B&D Barrels makes a set of 15" guns for the Roberts and he has them on eBay for $6.00 and free shipping. I have a pair now and they are very nicely done. Fits right onto the blast bags.

That is good to heard about the barrels fitting into the blast bags. I believe the vendor stated that they were designed for that purpose. They go look good in the bag.
It will be next year before I am able to get around to starting my kit. Would really like to see pictures of your progress and any issues good or bad about the kit.
Well Marcus, I guess I’ll have to queu the Roberts up for this Fall. I have a number of other builds going right now, although one more might not matter that much. I really have been dying to work on her though, as she is a very unusual looking ship.

I believe the Trumpeter PE doesn’t provide all of the deck edge railings.

I went through my kit and instructions and found that Trumpeter does provide for the deck railings and superstructure rails. One of the differences I did find is in the radar PE or lack there of. Another difference I am finding with Trumpeter’s PE in my Dreadnought build is that their PE is VERY fragile. Some of it bends by just looking at it and it is not very forgiving.

You are so right about the PE for the that kit being fragile. More than once it has had me swearing like a sailor.

That was Steve that said it was fragile, but he’s correct. I always plan on NOT using Trumpeter PE initially because of how soft their brass is. I evaluate it just in case they switch brass, but never expect them to.

Now you know why I always buy GMM or TOMS. Fact is I am kind of spoiled on EDUARD .So, whenever I get the chance I stock up on what will work for me .Lot’s of rails and ladders that way. T.B.
I’m building a 1:350 Cutty Sark now. The kit forecastle and quarterdeck area railings look like they are made from tree truncks. Fortunately a have a bit of 1:350 railings left from a couple of old PE sheets that had extra railing, and I think I can adapt pieces. I never throw away any PE- always figure I can use the extra somewhere sometime.
