well I would buy 250k worth of models
Sweeeeeettt!!! That would be great!! You could get a lot of 1/72nd vehicles, and display them around the ship as if it’s in port somewhere!!
Man, that’s one big ship!!! “Big E” indeed. It would be easy to get more planes too, just go to your local hobbyshop and get a couple of 1/72nd scale aircraft and helo’s!! Talking about detail…

I remember when the model made the cover, generated aton of interest.

That is very impressive–obviously a labor of love.
But where would you put it?
Uhmm… The Marina??[:D][:D][:D]
Good question though… That model is about as big as my back yard!!! Then again, if I could spent $250,000 on a model I could also get a display cabinet big enough for it!!

In the mid 80’s there use to be a company called #8220;Super Ship Models#8221; who built
GRP hulls and super structures in 1:72 scale and they produced the USS Nimitz.
The hull and deck came in three parts and the island structure was also included.
It had built in ballast tanks and came out at over 15 feet long.
FSM did a featured on it in the August 87 issue Vol: 6 No: 8 issue.
I have the plans and instruction books somewhere.
Would love to do a project that size.
Regards,
Beau.
that model is HUGE and awesome…if i had 250K, i would buy every world war two ship ever made…and alot of paint and supplies to go along with them
I noticed that there is a bid on it. Man, what a way to fund a retirement.
