Funny, there’s no kit reviews on the on-line store sites of Squadron or Great Models concerning this model. Very unusual for such a high-profile release…??? Could the zimm suck?
From what I understand, review samples have only just been sent out by DML to their usual sources, so you should see “reviews” of them up in the next few days although the Thanksgiving Holiday may interfere somewhat depending.
The only online review that I’ve seen so far is from Mil-Mod but is essentially just an “in-box” evalaution vs. an indication of any accuracy or other issues. Still a start though if you’re looking to evaluate what’s included in the kit and what’s not.
I’ll admit it: I hate indy-tracks. The DS tracks for my Elefant saved me from the padded-room. They looked decent, alas, not as nice as the indies, but good enough. They glued down without much grief and held paint easily.
As long as they look good, and can be glued to sag, then they are a perfect alternative to alleviate the pain and time of assembling indy-tracks. MHO They also won’t fall apart when moving your model like another of mine did. [:(!]
IMO, the zimm on the turret is too “fine”…typically the pattern on the turret had larger and flatter ridges…in fact, most zimm tool-sets you can buy have different sized “saws” to replicate the different textures/patterns of zimm seen on a single vehicle…Tiger I’s probably had the most variation of zimm on a single vehicle of any german AFV…Looks like they stuck w/ one pattern across the whole thing…
Hmmm…I’ve got way too many Tigers in the stash to plop down more duckets for this one, zimmed or not. Which reminds me that I still need to build the KT/Henschel w/zim that I bought last year!![:I]
