HIJMS Shimakaze

I am in the process of constructing the HIJMS Shimakaze for R/C Combat.
Aft of the bridge, forward of the main smoke stack is the step to the foredeck. At this point, below the bridge on the main deck, there appears to be a bulkhead or deck house structure that runs from outboard forward to inboard aft to meet the deck house on the main deck just forward to the main stack. This would be below and aft of the foredeck life boats, forward of the main deck life boats.
All I have are line drawings and a 1/700 water line model to work with and I am unsure as to what this structure is and what detail would be noted on the bulkhead. On my Italian destroyers with a raised fordeck, this step is perpendicular to the long axis of the ship and has doors to access the forward aspect of the ship.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Tachikaze, not too sure exactly where we are - do you mean the area immediately below the fore mast and it’s two bracing supports? I am currently doing a detailed 1/700 waterline Shimakaze (Tamiya) and I put a hatch and porthole there based on the drawing here: http://www.battlestations.org/clubs/nzbg/im/shimakazeA/simakaze.gif

Yes, I am talking about that deck house that the main mast is setting on. How it is configured as you move forward underneath the bridge and the foredeck extension.

Aha! an area of little interest to me, since on mine it is solid plastic!

I ‘googled’ and checked out a heck of a lot of sites before I started, I don’t remember any site with a drawing other than variations on the basic side elevation and I certainly haven’t seen any pics.

I don’t know what the rules are here about promoting other forums, but I’m about to find out! You could try a post at http://www.modelship.info/mwsphpBB2/index.php - if you can’t get an answer there the info probably doesn’t exist.

Cheers, andy!
