Does anyone have experience integrating high impact styrene with the styrene from model kits? The reason I ask is because I found some very low cost high impact styrene sheets from USPlastics. It is available in the same thicknesses as the Evergreen sheets. I am wondering if Testors cement works with the high impact styrene. I am also curious as to whether it is flexible/bendable.

If you can order one sheet and try it, that would clinch it. However, since styrene works with so many of the glues modelers work with, I think I’d order some and believe you’d find some glue that would work. Isn’t the chemistry of the high impact stuff the same as regular? I think it is worth the risk of buying one sheet anyway if it is relatively cheap. There are always other glues/adhesives as backup. I am assuming the question refers to the Testors liquid cement, not the tube stuff.
Hi!!! I’ve ordered that type of plastic from USPlastics and found that several types of Testors cements
(tube glue and liquid) work really well. It seems to have the same “workable” qualities as Evergreen products.

Thank you. That is exactly what I was wanting to know. I didn’t know if “high” impact implied brittle or inflexible. Knowing that I can use Testors liquid cement to bond with “regular” kit styrene is useful as well.

Hello , now , you use a term I,ve seen , heard and pretty much ignored . The old sales saw " high impact styrene " was to alleviate folks fears that the plastic glass they were using wouldn’t collapse when they set it on the table hard.
All in all , styrene is pretty much "HIGH IMPACT " it,s molecular structure is much more compact and tighter bonds exist at that level.Most styrene glues will work , and surprise , on some , even lacquer thinner will work . tankerbuilder
