My name is Ramon but have the sobriquet ‘Tug’ which for some unknown reason is synonomous with the surname Wilson. I’m approaching 69years and have been modelling of some kind since about four years old. I began making plastic models at around 11 when the frst Airfix ‘Spit’ arrived in the shops (Woolworths) which lasted until my early twenties before a long, long layoff. My interest returned around 2003 when I made an Airfix Lancaster for my cousins eightieth birthday. That proved such an enjoyable project that I’ve carried on since, though I do share it with a couple of other modelling passions - model engineering and recently sailing R/C yachts - something I share with my wife Sue.
I have not registered with a Plastic Forum so far though have visted them regularly however along with the Tamiya magazine the other magazine I took when starting back out was FSM - hence my choice [:)]
My interest so far has been split 50/50 between aircraft (mainly 1/48) and 1/35 modern armour.
I look forward to being part of the community and to sharing my modelling adventures with others .

Welcome to the forums Tug! Glad to have you aboard! I used to sail R/C yachts back in the '70’s and early '80’s. My main ones were a Vortex “Soling” (50/800) and a couple of “Santa Barbara’s” (10 Rater). My wife and the kids used to go with me and sail them after the regattas were over. Lots of fun but we slowly lost our sailing sites for various reasons.
Enjoy the hobby. Lots of great guys, and gals here to help you with any questions/problems.

Bish - we are not that far apart eh? I’m in the Norwich group - do you go to any of the local shows? Peterborough next month?
Jim - we have only been sailing for just over a year. Again we are both in the Norwich (boat) club which has a very nice purpose built pond. We have a one metre and M/head a piece and yes, Sue’s much the better skipper!

No, I am not in any group. I did try joining the Ipswich IPMS group when I joined IPMS last year, but I never got a reply. Is the Norwich group a part of the IPMS.
I have never been to a model show. But I would like to start going, I might try and get to Peterborough. Thanks for the heads up.
