And it turned out that the booth I purchased had belonged to Rob Smith - PANZERWAFFE on this site. I saw some of his work and it was quite impressive. It is very sad that he passed at such a young age. I wish I could have known Rob …
I am not sure if there are any other modelers on this site that make scale model outboard motors. But it would be neat if there were some. I have been building a retirement business making highly detailed and accurate scale models of old outboards such as a 1917 Koban, a 1914 Sweet and 1938 Elto Cub. I also make custom stands for each. I have been building a buyers list for about 5 years and I will start shipping my motors once I retire from IBM. Perhaps in about 3 years … but ya never know with IBM …
Once I get some time I will post pictures of my models. Some of them can be seen on my website at www.KidColeModels.com but I have not updated the site in over two years, so it’s horribly down level.

Thanks everyone. I think my modeling is considerably different that what I am seeing here … particularly because all my parts are designed and cast from scratch. But I am already learning a lot here about finishing, air brush, etc. I had not planned to use airbrush but now I am getting hooked. I have some old Badger and Paasche airbrushes that belonged to my father … probably purchased in the 1980s … That will give me a start. Then I probably need to look into a two stage. Most all my painting is single solid colors such as Black, White and Silver. But one thing I can benefit from learning … is how to make nice sharp lines in transition from one color to another. I’ll dig in around the site to see what I can learn.
I don’t see a personal area for pictures, so I guess the galleries area is where I could show some of my work one of these days. another item I want to share here is also related to Rob Smith … I acquired a miniature lathe that was made by Rob’s grandfather. It’s probably from the 1950s … maybe late 40s. It looks like the motor and main castings could have been a lathe kit of some sort. And then the rails are made of hardwood. It’s amazingly functional and has at least 4 RPM settings. Great for making small precision turned parts. My 15 year old son is already eyeing it to make some pens. I want to get it cleaned up and mount it on a board first. I have a decent collection of small scale quality model tools and they are mounted on boards so I can quickly lock them in place on my modeling bench …
I look forward to seeing what you guys are doing here. I have a good bit of forum experience with a couple of my other hobbies … so I hope to share some things myself one of these days. I spend a lot of time on the water in summer, so I’ll probably be more motivated on modeling when the weather turns a little …
Well I just tried to paste in some pictures. And it worked in the Compose window … But the Preview did not pick them up. And text in between pasted pictures was also lost.
